Peace Promises ... "Peace Be With You." Jesus said
When you are a young church, discerning God's guidance, you begin to ask, "What kind of church does God want us to be?" It's a great conversation to share amongst members of all ages. To discern further we look to the scriptures. Here are some characteristics which spoke to us and for which we to strive, week by week, to become.
Always be honest.
"The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in men who are truthful." Proverbs 12:22
Count your blessings.
"I will extol the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt His name together." Psalm 34:1-3
Bear each other's burdens.
"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2
Forgive and forget.
"Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance?" Micah 7:18
Be kind and tender hearted.
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Ephesians 4:32
Comfort one another.
"Therefore encourage each other with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:18
Keep your promises.
"Being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised." Romans 4:21
Be supportive of one another.
"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35
Be true to each other.
"Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways." Revelations 15:3
Look after each other.
"There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land." Deuteronomy 15:11
Treat each other as you treat yourself.
"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you." Matthew 7:12
Love one another deeply from the heart.
"Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart." 1 Peter 1:22
