CHILDREN AND FAMILY MINISTRIES

We know that parents are the primary nurturers of a child’s faith. And we’re here to help! We do this by equipping you with the tools necessary to be successful in raising your child to personally know, love and follow Jesus and to know his or her identity as a Child of God. Our Sunday mornings are structured so children are woven into the fabric of our worship together so they know they belong and are valued in the praise and worship of God.

SUNDAY SCHOOL  //  10:00 am SUNDAYS

Sunday School is a place where children can come to have fun learning about Jesus and the Bible. Lessons include Bible stories, music, and activities designed to introduce children to Christian principles and the Lutheran tradition – while building a foundation for lifelong faith. Sunday School hour is from 10:00 - 11:00 am every Sunday during the school year (exception holidays.)

YOUTH BIBLE STUDY  //  10:00 am SUNDAYS

Youth Bible Study is an opportunity for our middle and high school youth to dig deep into the Bible and discuss current cultural issues - while building a foundation for lifelong faith. Youth Bible Study hour is from 10:00 - 11:00 am every Sunday during the school year (exception holidays.)

FIRST COMMUNION  //  FIFTH GRADE

Fifth graders and up are invited to partake in their first communion following a series of engaging events. A group workshop, communion bread making and a special First Communion Worship are all part of this wonderful milestone. First Communion is received during Maundy Thursday worship. Watch your email for information on the next workshop.

THIRD and SEVENTH GRADE BIBLES  // THIRD SUNDAY IN SEPTEMBER

At a child’s baptism, parents, sponsors and the congregation make a promise on behalf of the child to place in their hands the Holy Scriptures and provide for their instruction in the Christian faith.  We do this together at two important times in a child’s life.  First, parents present their third graders with a “Children’s Bible” which is filled with colorful helps and questions suited for young learners.  Secondly, we present a “Youth Bible” to our seventh graders who are entering the Ignite Confirmation program.

We make these Bibles extra special by displaying them in the commons for several weeks for members to highlight a favorite Bible verse and share a prayer on a Post-It Note to be placed in the Bibles. By getting many “favorite Bible verses” and “colorful prayers” shared in each Bible, we are showing our young people that we support them in their study of God’s word for their lives.

Information is sent out to parents in late August/early September

BAPTISM //

For more information on baptism, visit our baptism page.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL  //  June 10-14

Each year in June, Peace offers a community VBS. This year's theme is "Breaker Rock Breach." This summer kids will be challenged as they discover that God's truth never changes, everyone needs Jesus, and learn to speak the truth in love. Adventure awaits each day as kids explore tide pools, spot orcas, fly kites, and watch the mighty waves crash up against the Immovable Breaker Rock!

JAM (Jesus and Me)  //  SUNDAYS DURING WORSHIP

Jesus loves children and so does Peace.  We want parents to know how much we love to see them at worship with their children, even if it gets noisy.  Attending church as a family shows children that worship is important.  To help our children understand the sermon, a church member presents a short children's message called JAM (Jesus and Me).  All children are invited forward to participate.

NOISY OFFERING  //  SECOND SUNDAYS EACH MONTH

On the second Sunday of each month (during the school year,) Peace children collect loose change in metal cans, aka "Noisy Offering."  This offering goes to mission efforts that the children learn about during Sunday school.

CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM  //  THIRD SUNDAY IN DECEMBER

On the third Sunday in December, the children of Peace delight us all as they learn the true meaning of Christmas.  Watch the bulletin and your emails for information and sign up (usually the middle of November.)
